| Series Summary |
Shindo Hikaru was like every other average elementary student. One day, he went searching for some valuables at his grampa's attic to sell for some cash, but then he came across a blood stained go board. When he touched the bloodstain, he freed an ancient spirit, Fujiwara no Sai, who entered Hikaru's sub-consciousness. Sai was actually the greatest go player from the Hejan era, but he commited suicide after he was framed cheating in a go match. He became a wandering spirit because he was unable to rest until he attains "The Hand of God". Through Hikaru, Sai plays go with many characters while Hikaru gains an interest and passion for it. The storyline develops nicely as it goes on. The characters are well-developed, and the passion they show for GO is very visible. The designs and the art for HikaGo is simply superb, the backgrounds are very well done and the drawings are very detailed. You can actually see the growth development in characters. ie: You can see Hikaru's features gradually grow older and more mature looking as the story progresses. Hikaru no Go is still currently running in Weekly Jump and is created/written by Yumi Hotta/Ken Obata. And the anime is also currently airing in Japan. Information last updated on Jan 8, 2008 |
