Series Summary After a fiery accident destroys his school bus, MASASHI RANDOH plunges into a year long coma. Once awake, Randoh makes a horrifying discovery: the slightly mad doctor Manabe has given him the face of a pretty girl. However, Randoh was not given just any face, but the face of KURIMI RINA, the girl Randoh likes. The bad news does not end there. Randoh finds that he is thought long dead, his family has since moved away, and almost no one misses his obnoxious personality. Just when it seems there is nowhere else to turn, a chance encounter with Rina leads to Randoh being mistaken for her long lost twin sister, Yuna.

Randoh finds himself at an impasse. He wants to return to his original identity, but he does not want to pain his beloved Rina, who was terribly hurt when Yuna left the first time. Therefore, Randoh embarks on a search for the real Yuna in order to bring her back. In the mean time, he must lead a double life as a high school girl, which Randoh soon discovers is no easy task...

This manga is a delightfully light and fun read. The art fits the tone of the story perfectly - attractively drawn characters with appropriately exaggerated expressions. One of the manga's strong points is the attentive detail paid to the Randoh/Yuna portrayal. Though drawn like a girl, one never forgets that Randoh is a guy because his stance and stride remain masculine, as does his manner of speech and most of all his response to the girls around him.

The manga is not without its flaws. The plot device and comic situations are rather conventional (the school trip, the hot bath, etc). New characters are constantly introduced to keep things chaotic, but are not developed much. Despite its deficiencies, Pretty Face is utterly enjoyable and entertaining.
