Yamaguchi Kumiko is the daughter of a Yakuza boss and is completely at peace with the fact that she is air of her father's empire. However, she leaves most of that up to the rest of the family and their talented lawyer, whom's she has more than a slight crush on. Instead, Yakumi works hard to fulfill her hearts decide to be a teacher. But she must hide her background so she doesn't get fired from her first teaching job, which is a school filled with tough kids and difficult students. At first glance this looks like the female version of GTO, being that its about a relatively badassed teacher working with your tougher than average students, but comparisions aside, Gokusen stands in it own right with it's witty humour and dialogue. Yakumi is a funny, enjoyable character, and remarkably realistic and believable at times, with an attitude and courage that makes her very appealing.
