| Series Summary |
Shinigami: "Gods of Death', creatures who live in their own world but use magical notebooks to control death in the human world. Everything runs smoothly until the day a Shinigami leaves his notebook in the human world, where it is picked up by a boy named Yagami Raito (which means Light). What is going to happen now a human has control over life and death?
Set in modern day Japan, this manga is very psychological and thought provoking. The characters are unique and tend to not fit into any archetypical roles. There is a main character, but no 'Protagonist' and 'Antagonist'. The writing style is creative and very easy to read, with quite a bit of dialog and not much action. With its involved story line, Death Note is creative take on the mystery genre. Submitted by Pono Takamori |
