The newly formed A Loan is in direct competition with Z Loan and whoever makes a certain amount of money taking out illegal zombies in a one month period wins and the other team dies. Naturally, to add tension, Z-Loan suddenly is unable to hunt worth a darn in spite of the fact they’ve always been good before. However, unbeknownst to either group or their ferrymen, there is another group of individuals that aren’t human. One is a fake shinigami with a stolen god-of-death core, Chika’s former friend, Shiba, who still has it out for Chika. While worrying about their continued existence, Chika and Shito have a more personal worry. Both of them are falling for Michiru and they’re afraid she has a crush on the Dabu King, Sotetsu, a known womanizer. To further add into the romantic fun, one of the A Loaners has a crush on Michiru thanks to her kindness. All three groups get drawn together as the Loaners compete and are both being undermined by Shiba and company, only they don’t know it. Here I have to hand it to Michiru. She’s finally actively trying to become stronger, to do her share of the fighting rather than sitting back and letting the boys take care of her. As always, Yen likes to leave the sound effects in place and add in both phonetic and English translations but they’re getting much better at not cluttering up the art. Speaking of which, the art is a bit off on occasion in the action scenes, leaving you wondering who is doing what but other than that, it’s Peach-Pit’s usual fare. I’m still enjoying this series.
