Title: Metro Survive
Volume: 2
Mangaka: Yuuki Fujisawa
Genre: Seinen
Publisher: DrMaster
Rating: Older Teen (16+)
Price: $9.95/US $11.99/CAN

As good as the first volume of Metro Survive seemed to be, it appears that this story is one cut short. In only two volumes, we reach our story's climax. Fortunately, however, this second volume of Metro Survive is just as good--if not better--than the first, and is almost guaranteed to keep you on the edge of your seat the entire time.

This is one of those stories where spoilers of any kind, no matter how small, are worth avoiding, so I can't say much. Suffice to say, though, if you hated the evil host club members as much as I did in the first volume, you'll be absolutely loathing them like the scum they are the whole way through this second book. It takes skill to write a villain you can really hate, and Fujisawa has managed to pull this off in spades once again.

Fujisawa also makes the reader really care about the main characters as well, and every pitfall they encounter will definitely tug at your heartstrings. I'm not too proud to hide the fact I got misty-eyed more than a few times while finishing Metro Survive, and that's no small feat in a story that's only two volumes long.

Of course, the series’ artwork helps as much as the writing, and again we're met with a mix of comically exaggerated salary men and a more realistic style that's similar to many dramas aimed at an older market. The translation is equally impeccable, with every character fitting their role perfectly. The host club members practically ooze sliminess with every sentence.

Really, I could go on and on about what a top-notch story Metro Survive has been, but I think it's pretty easy to tell what I think of the series by now. This was a real hidden gem, many times better than I could have imagined. Any fans of thrillers owe it to themselves to pick up Metro Survive ASAP!
