Title: Love is Like A Hurricane Volume 2
Mangaka: Tokiya Shimazaki
Originally Serialized In: Boys L (Kousai Shobou)
Genre: Yaoi, Romance
Licensed by: 801 Media
Price: $15.95 (US)

Love is Like A Hurricane’s second volume continues right from where the first left us. Mizuki continues with his exhaustive efforts to stop Azuma from overwhelming him but is constantly foiled, swept away in a torrent of love, sudden advances and envy-driven affection. Minor characters continue to add more to the plot and offer short breaks between Azuma and Mizuki’s emotional game of cat and mouse. A side story near the end continues the escapades of the brothers from the first volume as well.

The feeling of this second volume is the same as the first, short scenarios and exchanges between characters which carry the book alongside numerous graphic sex scenes. Characters are placed in situations that allow for new views of their personalities, but never enough to make the story feel like it’s being bogged down in sudden deep development. It remains as shallow, but still as entertaining, as volume one.

The art is still consistent and is just as easy on the eyes. The artist continues to carry her story on expressive characters, energetic actions and creative angles, not to mention well-rendered and uninhibited sex scenes.

801 Media did a nice job with the translations and replacement of sound effects and sub-text. The cover layout is done to match the first, but with green being the backdrop color instead of red to make it different than its predecessor. Double sided, full color images still make up the first two pages of the book. Unlike the first book, this one has no preview for the third volume but does include another amusing short comic starring 801 Media’s mascot characters.

In the end, Love is Like A Hurricane volume two has all the attributes that made the first one so appealing. For fans of the first, the second is just as worth picking up if you wish to follow the steamy adventures of Mizuki and Azumi.
