They'll have First Annual National Otaku Exam in August!!!

Please excuse my bad English:

They'll test you on popular "Akiba" style such as Anime, Game, and Doujin, and whoever passed the exam will receive a certificate. The committee is dead serious about this saying they'll raise Otaku Elites that leads 21st century.

Magazine Elfics will lead this exam. The problems will be revealed on issue Vol. 005 that'll hit street on August 5. There are about 16 pages and it reminds people of University entrance exam.

There'll be probably 50 questions. Once you fill out the answers in attached postcard and mail it to the publisher, you're done. After grading, the magazine will announce those who scored high as "successful candidate" in the October 5th issue. As long as you buy the magazine, there are no other requirements to enter.

There are many categories for Otaku such as Railroad or Pro Wrestling, but for the first one, the problems will focus on Akiba style such as Doujin, Game, Anime, Comic Market (anime convention and likes). Its editorial department says "Otaku has become one of the culture that Japan can proud of. We can say new century is Otaku's era. We decided to hold this exam to raise Otaku Elites who possess correct and beautiful Otaku knowledge."

The editorial department created the problems with cooperation of famous Anime and Doujin-shi groups. There were some sample exams on April issue. There were not-normal "categories" such as "family game machine theory" or "Comike Introduction." One of the problems listed the Comike's attendance in a graph and asked "The attending group numbers remarkably changes in part A of the graph. State the reason why in one line."

Reader's response is big, too. Famous Doujin bookstores in Akihabara started to advertise it in the end of June. Also they created a website called "OTAK." "We're surprised at people's response. We even receive more than 10k access in "OTAK" site." They might think of having exams at one place or even on the net in the future if this is successful. Let us see if this will become Otaku Elite's gateway.
