Discussion Series #13 -- Speeding Up Manga Releases, Pros and Cons?

Last week, Viz Media has announced one of the most fascinating news last week, where 12 volumes of Naruto will be released between the month of September and December, in order to catch up with the Japanese releases. More information was provided by PWCW.

From Precocious Curmudgeon, commenters have offered different concerns they have, while Dirk Deppey offers a more interesting thought:

Now, what do people think of speeding up releases in general? And in relation to scanlations? In the last year or so, we've witnessed the speed of licensing gone up dramatically, if publishers were to release much faster, then we can all retire from tedious scanlating work and just find our favorite manga in the bookstores, right?
